Showcase Re-launch

Its back, The Ultimate Showcase 2008 will once again be bigger and better than before, tying in TV, the internet and live performances, your band could be the next big thing in the Christian music scene. You can be on the stage at Alton Towers 2008 joining the likes of Delirious, Sanctus Real, This Beautiful Republic and RPM.

Competition Facts:
- 3 out of 4 bands that have won in previous years have been signed as a direct outcome of T.U.S.
- Bands that take part are seen and heard by approx 1 million people during the course of the competition
- Everyone we have asked has said the competition helped them to gain fans and confidence.
- Previous winners have shared the stage with the likes of Delirious, Toby Mac, Newsboys, All Star United, Tait, Rebecca St James and many many more......
- The Ultimate Event is the largest 1 day festival in the uk.

The Ultimate Showcase Final Announcing 2007 Winners Kairos.

Last year's finalists appeared on GTV, got thousands of votes from around the world and played live in front of an audience of millions on GOD TV in the live final (clip above). The winner was then thrust into the spotlight, playing live in front of 8000+ people at the Ultimate Event at Alton Towers, the UK’s biggest 1-day Christian music festival.

The competition is called The Ultimate Showcase for a reason, we want to make sure the best unsigned* Christian acts in the UK get exposure to the largest audience possible and help them gain a foothold in the industry. In the previous years, as well as exposing new Christian music to hundreds of thousands of people, we have had representatives from many of the UK’s record companies come to watch acts with 2 being signed as a direct result.

HOW TO ENTER: SIGN UP FOR A MUSICFINITY ACCOUNT, LOG INTO YOUR ACCOUNT AND TICK THE BOX TO ENTER! SIGN UP HERE

So, what will be different this year?

We will be working in partnership with one of the UK’s top youth networks to make sure your music is heard by as many of the people that will come to see you as possible (to be announced shortly).

We are once again negotiating with tv stations to make sure you get the maximum audience possible and there will be much much more as time progresses. We are also in talks with studios to add recording time to the prize and a record label to give you a huge start after the final.

The main difference this year is that we are going to take away the premium rate texting, we decided this wasn’t a fair way of collecting votes as the price for your fans was too high. All voting will now be done by fans coming on to your musicfinity page, signing up (so we know who is real) and voting for you. This means we have had to look into other ways of covering the costs of the competition and after talking to some of the finalists from last year have decided to charge an entrance fee of £25. This will also make sure we get serious entrants and hopefully stop some of the prank bands trying to hack the competition as we have had in previous years.

What will you get for this?

  • Entry into the competition
  • A review of the songs on your musicfinity page from industry pro's
  • Tips on how to improve your songs from industry pro's

So, if you are a member of Musicfinity log into your profile and enter, if not get signed up! Then all you need to do is to get your fans voting!! More news and clips from last years live final coming soon!!!

*unsigned in this case is a band that have not been signed OR a band signed to a label with no more than 3 acts associated to it.

Ultimate Showcase hotting up

Broeknrule records (01/26/07 04:15:43)   Tag: Music

I love you guys, due to so many people from this website coming onto The Ultimate Showcase and signing up, w now have over 50 bands signed up and the talent out there is superb.

The best thing about the competition is that anyone could win and with the promise of tv slots for the finalists, a gig in front of approx 12,000 and a recording contract for the winner its worth anyone signing up.  In the end its down to the general public and 3 esteemed judges from the music industry to see who will go through.

Once the competition ends, the site carries on and we  are in negotiations with some of the big festivals in the uk to offer places on their fringe stages (think Reading, V etc.).  This will work in the same way as the Ultimate Showcase but we would love to see some Christian acts getting on those stages and forging a path for the word of God  to reach people that really need it.

I would love to know what people thnk of what we are trying to do here.  Would you want to play a major secular venue where you could be booed off the stage, where there is always the possibiity that people will throw things at you because of the lyrics in your songs?  Is it worth it just in case the gig goes well and people actually listen and are caught up by something different and are left with questions at the end of the gig?

Comments on this thread are welcome, how can we as Christian artists and musicians really affect this world?

A Big Thank You

Broeknrule records (01/21/07 06:59:18)   Tag: Music

Just a shout out to all of those on here that have sent messages of support for the work Broeknrule are doing after a rouge band managed to say some rude stuff on The Ultimate Showcase.

We have now implimented some changes so that nothing like it can happen again.  Its been great to hear from people and also see so many of you sign up.  At the moment, I would say there is a lack of gospel and rap, so if you fit into that category, please go and sign up.  I hope I can meet some of you at the finals which are going to be  broadcast live on God TV.

Thanks again

Mike

Apology For Offennding!

Broeknrule records (01/19/07 04:50:43)   Tag: Music

Hello everyone,

It has come to my attentian that unfortuantely a rouge band registered on the ultimate showcase with some rather unsavoury stuff in their profile. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to anyone that saw this and was offended.

I would like to assure everyone that we are doing our best to make sure this doesn't happen and have introduced some new measures today to make sure it doesn't happen again.

As pointed out by some people, musicfinity is not just a site for Christian bands. It is run by Chrsitians though! I have a real heart to enable Christian bands and artists to get onto the same platform as mainstream bands and Musicfinity is part of this. Everything we do with the company is based on Christian principles and a vision of cutting the great divide in this country that exists between Mainstream music and Christian music.

We are desperate to see Christian bands on channels such as mtv, on programmes like TOTP (RIP) and other mainstream programmes, getting their music and message into the living rooms of those that desperately need to hear it! The way we have done this is to set up a company that equally does not discriminate against those bands that are not Christians (although we do have some rules!) and we have found that this has opened up doors with some of the biggest record labels in the country. Unfortuantely, as with today, this meant we had a slight problem with one band that obviously was out to try and shock.

Again, I apologise, I hope you will see the ultimate showcase as a great mission to find some great Christian bands. If you have any questions or concerns, please do feel free to get in touch.

Thanks
