Biography

His real name Ayanda Khumalo, was born in 1986 in Bulawayo,Zimbabwe.

Educated at Midlands Christian School, Gweru and Falcon College, Esigodini. Ayanda discovered his passion for music at Midlands Christian School in his last year. He then started a group called "Guy and Four Men", the group didn't go far and only performed informally at the school.

When Ayanda moved to Falcon College, in 1999 his passion came alive. Being the brother of the college drummer he was exposed to the drums at Falcon and music at a higher level than Midlands Christian School. Ayanda learnt the drums and the foundation of music, through his brother and a man who later was to have a big impact on his life, Eric Wetherall. Eric Wetherall was the music teacher when Ayanda arrived and he made an impact on Ayanda's life. Eric pushed and stretched Ayanda in all directions in music for the 3 years Eric was at Falcon. "I disliked him the first year of my life at Falcon because he pushed me so much and it felt like he always picked on me. But after that first year i realised that he was pushing me for something great. God was using him to mold me" Ayanda was soon leading the Falcon College Midweek Band after 4 years and was leading worship at Falcon with the likes of Shungu Pastika, Johno Lapham, Tendai Mudzimu, Leroy Shirto, Baveer Doolabh to name a few.

During his 3rd year at Falcon College, Ayanda discovered he had a gift to write poems and songs. He honed the gift of songwriting and wrote countless circular songs, which were never published. " I wrote loads of songs but i never was at ease with what i wrote. God then sat me down and said that the gift of songwriting i had was for his church. it was so easy to write songs but not worship songs. It took alot of work and polishing to start writing songs of worship. My heart is what inspired and opened up my mind to writing worship. My relationship with God was how worship was to flow."  After realising that worship flows from from the heart, Ayanda started to express his relationship with God through songs. And to bring the church and Christ together.

After leaving Falcon, Ayanda played rugby for Zimbabwe at the Under19 2005 World Championships in Durban, South Africa. After returning to Zimbabwe, he joined Bulawayo Baptist Church, pastored by Raymond Motsi. He became a member of the Youth Worship Team playing the drums.  He then joined the main church team playing the drums.

His heart on restoration and creation being restored back to it's creator prompted Ayanda to start a movement called Restoration in Bulawayo in 2008. Having their initial service on the 4th of January this year, it's planned to be an annual event.

Ayanda is a upcoming Songwriter and Worship leader in Bulawayo at Bulawayo Baptist Church. He's currently the Youth Worship Team Director at Bulawayo Baptist church and is also one of the drummers at the church. He's also a bass guitarist and leads on the bass guitar. He's currently in a transition to move from leading on the bass guitar to leading on an acoustic guitar at the churches main service. He's currently working on his debut album.
