Love came down at Christmas
Salvation for the earth
A promise made from long ago
A wondrous Virgin Birth
The shepherds on the hillside
Heard soft angelic wings
Whose owners did proclaim to them
"Go forth and find the King of Kings!"

Love came down at Christmas
God's greatest gift to Man
Jehovah Jireh, God provides
the way to live His plan
Three seers from the East they came
To pay homage to the child
For they discerned the power there
Inside that baby meek and mild

Love came down at Christmas
To invade our hearts and minds
But the ancient story of the Christ
Is often compromised
And mammon gods are worshipped
With fervent shopper's eyes
And God's solution for mankind
Gets sweetened up and sanitised

Love came down at Christmas
With a purpose from on high
To grow up from that baby boy
To take our sin and die
To rise again victorious
Over sin and death and hell
And to give us life eternal
O God with us, Emmanuel!

Love came down at Christmas
To live witin your soul
So open up the door to him
And make your heart feel whole
The emptiness inside you
Can be gone without a trace
This Christmas-tide you can abide
In Jesus Christ's redeeming grace

Love came down at Christmas
Now should we all sing praise
And stand in awe of Jesus
Our own Ancient of Days
No ear shall hear Him coming
When He returns again
But until that day, we all can say
A resounding, glorious, great
"AMEN!"
