Tudor explorers tried not to travel out of sight of land. Their fears were fuelled by tales of monsters and boiling seas etc. This restricted their movements. In order to find the treasures of other countries they needed to get away from sight of land. It was a very risky business but the rewards were fantastic.

We need to press on with God, even to lose sight of our security. The risk is great; the treasure, everlasting.
