In a book I read recently the author describes seeing a satellite tracing a pathway through the stars on a clear night in January. It made him think about how on the one hand human beings have achieved so much but on the other hand just how little we really know, how ultimately we end up alone like a solitary satellite in the vastness of an eternity of space. At the end of his thinking the writer offers no hope. It got me thinking. I acknowledge how hopeless we can be and how quickly the contradictions within us can lead to damage and decay, to pushing others away from us. I cannot hope in myself and the human race. But where in the end the writer saw only aloneness and fear, I see the unconditional love and acceptance of a proactive creator God who gives us a choice. One who stepped out of eternity and into time to sacrifice himself in our place and bring all human beings hope a chance to choose eternal life with him instead of aloneness and death. I commend Jesus Christ to you as the source of all hope.
