For a long time now I have wanted to record a CD of the worship songs that I have written and that we use at church. My dream was (is!) to record them in a live setting and really focus on capturing the worship rather than concentrate on getting a 'good' recording. I guess as a worship leader my burden to see and help people to worship God is what makes me want to share these songs and the ChristianBands website has really helped me to do that. I started recording the songs on my PC at home in order to post them up to the site as demos - just to give people an idea of how the songs go so that they could use them too. I had no intention of recording them to CD at the time. Once I had finished though, I realized that if my heart was to share the songs, to concentrate on the worship rather than the recording/packaging etc then what I had did the job. That's not to say that I haven't made an effort with the printing etc - as one satisfied customer emailed me:- "...It's a great product and package - printing and photos look very professional. I hope you sell heaps!" The songs are a serving suggestion. The way I have recorded them is not the way I play them at church - it's usually just me and my guitar. Whether you like the way they have been recorded or not I hope you are blessed by the songs and use them in your worship! |

Rough Beginnings |

Rough Beginnings is a CD I recorded on my PC for friends and family for Christmas 2003. I found all the old songs I had written when I was growing up and finally recorded them (in some cases finished them first). As a debut album it is pretty rough around the edges and was never really meant to be heard outside the context of friends and family but hey, there's something in the rawness that I think adds to the flavour and we're all friends here right? The tracks that I am most pleased with are:- 'John the baptist' which has really stood the test of time, I always seem to end up singing it whatever the occasion! 'City of God' which went around in my head for months before I was able to finish it and write it down! 'beautiful one' was the first worship song that I remember writing - I've never taught it or though of it as a congregational song, it's always been a very personal worship song |
